I had no sooner helped myself to a seat in Boris Berezovsky's sleek Mayfair office when he pointed out that I was sitting where Andrei Lugovoi sat the day before former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko was poisoned late last year. That chair later tested positive for polonium 210. It's since been switched for a new one.

A close friend of murdered ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko has broken his silence in a BBC interview. Boris Berezovsky told Newsnight that, on his deathbed, Mr Litvinenko, 43, had said former KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi was responsible for his poisoning.

Police have identified the man they believe poisoned Alexander Litvinenko. The suspected killer was captured on cameras at Heathrow as he flew into Britain to carry out the murder. He arrived in London on a forged EU passport and reportedly slipped the poison into a cup of tea he made for Litvinenko in a London hotel room.

British detectives are certain they know who murdered former Soviet spy Alexander Litvinenko with radioactive poison. But they say authorities in Russia are unlikely to send his two killers here to face trial. Police will submit a file to the Crown Prosecution Service naming the two.
